HEALTH & SAFETY OFFICER - PSDP - DUBLIN
JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client is an award-winning Dublin based Architectural practice,
who offer a unique opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety
Professional (PSDP) to join a busy, expanding practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Health and Safety Professional will work with the existing Health
and Safety team in fulfilling the role of PSDP on projects where the
company have been engaged to do so.
Advise clients regarding their role and responsibilities under the
SHWW(Construction) Regulations
Identify hazards arising from the design or from the technical,
organisational, planning, or time-related aspects of the project;
Where possible, eliminate the hazards or reduce the risk
Communicate necessary control measures, design assumptions, or
remaining risks to the PSCS so they can be dealt with in the Safety
and Health Plan
Ensure that the work of designers is co-ordinated to ensure safety
Organise co-operation between designers
Prepare a written safety and health plan for any project where
construction will take more than * person days
or * working days or there is a Particular Risk
and deliver it to the client prior to tender;.
Liaise with Contractor and PSCS and attend site meetings as necessary.
Co-ordinate the work of Temporary Works Designers.
Prepare a safety file for the completed structure and give it to the
client
Notify the Authority and client of non-compliance with any written
directions issued
Issue directions to designers or contractors or others as may be
necessary.
Review existing procedures for fulfilling the role of PSDP, in light
of current legislation and ISO requirements and advise with regard to
updates / improvements required to ensure compliance.
REQUIREMENTS
3rdd Level Diploma in Safety Health and Welfare (Construction), or
working towards, is required.
Previous PSDP experience in similar role essential.
Member of IOSH, or working towards.
Ability to interpret legislation and advise management.
Ability to read and interpret Architectural and Engineering drawings.
Be highly motivated and enjoy being part of a successful team.
The ability to multitask and be flexible across a variety of projects.
Strong communication skills and experience in report writing.
Excellent IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly
Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to work on own initiative, and keep team leader informed on
project development.
Have a full clean driving licence.
May be required to travel to other offices within the group, from time
to time, including Cork, Kilkenny and Galway.
